Coming upon the deer still alive was a shock. You turn
to Bill (wanting him to finish off his first deer) and tell him
to switch positions with you. Bill gets into position then attempts
to get a shot at the deer just a few feet away. But because of
all the brush, he needs to push brush out of the way to shoot.
The deer jumps up and takes off. You immediately realize that
you made an error in judgment and should have just shot the deer.
Bill turns to you and tells you he can see the deer. It
went right down again 30 yards away. Here are your choices:
1. Have Bill continue forward and
try to get another shot.
2. Back off and return in the morning.
3. Wait out the deer - for it to
die.
