This bloodtrail is 100% real.
All the pictures, stories and video are exactly as it happened
on the Pennsylvania season opener on Saturday, 10/2/99. We are
going to step you through this extremely difficult trail to see
what decisions you would have made. Good Luck!
Sometimes when you are bloodtrailing you loose the trail
and are forced to choose a particular direction in order to find
the animal. Sometimes it is pure luck that you pick the right
spot, other times it may be because you have experience and knowledge
of that particular animals' behavior.
This is one of those times. You have followed this trail
for nearly 170 yards so far which is excellent, but it has taken
you over 2 hours already and the blood sign is virtually non-existent.
You need to make a short term choice of direction and continue
forward. You are still looking for sign and not the animal.
Here is the current diagram of where you are
right now and the 3 choices of direction you have available.
Here is a description of the 3 choices:
1 - downriver, thick underbrush,
very few trees and even thicker briars. Eventually leading to
a swamp a 1/2 mile away.
2 - Across the RR Tracks
to a strip of homes along a state road then the woods
3 - Backtrack towards the
walking trail, a small pond, and where the shot took place.
