This bloodtrail is 100% real.
All the pictures, stories and video are exactly as it happened
on the Pennsylvania season opener on Saturday, 10/2/99. We are
going to step you through this extremely difficult trail to see
what decisions you would have made. Good Luck!
All Right! We found blood to confirm that we are on the
right trail. This is extremely critical to our ability to move
forward. It is pretty clear that the deer is bounding through
this thick area - at a fast pace. This makes tracking much more
difficult.
Lets do a time check. Bill shot the deer at 8:00 AM and
waited 1 hour before leaving his stand. By the time we discussed
the trail back at the cabin another 1/2 hour elapsed. We waited
till 2:00 PM to begin tracking the deer. We spent an hour getting
to the bushes then another hour and a half in the bushes. It
is now 4:30 PM. Since there is rain in the forecast for tonight
we have an increased sense of urgency with this trail. It gets
dark at 7:00 PM in this area of Western PA. We are clearly in
the middle of this thicket.
Some clues we have been noticing:
- There was blood on both sides of the initial trail
- The blood that we found had no odor to it
- We found some food matter in the blood
- We have not found the arrow
- The deer appears to have energy this far into the trail
- Blood sign is nearly impossible to find
- The deer backtracked towards us
